Why Capacity Planning Matters

A dedicated mining suite is constrained by electrical supply, cooling capacity, and physical rack space — not by how many units a vendor will ship. Equipment rated at 0.05 computing power and higher draws significant sustained load. Overfilling a row without verifying thermal headroom leads to throttled hash output, shortened fan life, and PSU failures during peak ambient months.

This guide summarizes the capacity framework we use during Suite Throughput Assessments. Figures are illustrative; your suite requires site-specific measurement.

Throughput Tiers

0.05–0.08 Entry throughput tier. Suitable for smaller dedicated rooms. Typical wall draw 1,200–1,800 W per unit at rated output.
0.08–0.15 Mid-suite standard. Most Gyeongsang industrial conversions target this band. Requires disciplined row spacing.
0.15+ High-throughput rows. Demands dedicated intake ducting and staged electrical panels. Not suitable for mixed-use buildings without retrofit.

Electrical Capacity Checklist

Before adding units, confirm:

Rule we apply on-site: measured wall draw at operating temperature exceeds nameplate by 3–8% on most ASIC units we test.

Cooling Headroom

Hot intake air from an exhaust row directly reduces delivered hash. We map this with infrared cameras during cooling surveys. Relocating a row by two metres sometimes costs less than adding inline fans.

Staged Expansion Plan

We recommend operators expand in batches:

  1. Baseline assessment of existing row throughput and thermal map
  2. Cooling survey before ordering new units
  3. Procurement advisory on shortlisted models at your intake temperature
  4. Benchmark batch on first shipment before full rack install
  5. Post-install verification after 30 days of operation

Skipping step 2 is the most common cause of capacity failures we document.
